Lada Nakonechna. Bad face of Ukraine. 2012. Performance

Work description

This performance Nakonechna carried out during various solo and group exhibitions in different countries. The performer is the artist herself: she sits still with her eyes closed.
The artist places herself in the exhibition space next to her works, offering her own body for contemplation. By closing her eyes, she denies herself the ability to see, shifting the responsibility for interpretation and offering equal access to each viewer. In doing so, Nakonechna desacralizes the status of the artist and her concept, allowing the audience to take an active role in interpreting and engaging with the exhibited works.
