Yuriy Leiderman about the project “Columbarium Routes – Rabbit’s Choice”

Publications

Since a columbarium is a rather regular structure, any burial niche there can be represented as a certain numerical combination. For the Donskoy columbarium in Moscow, this would be, for example, section number − wall number − ordinal number of the horizontal row − ordinal number of the vertical row. Accordingly, the reverse is also true: for any combination of numbers within a certain range, it is always possible to find the corresponding columbarium niche. In this work, such combinations were “chosen” for me by a rabbit − it simply touched one card or another with its nose. However, then I found the “chosen” niches in the columbarium, photographed them, and also marked the resulting “Brownian” route on the diagram.[1]
