Biography
1958

Born in Leningrad (now Saint Petersburg) into a family of doctors.

Since 1963

The Makovyi family moved to Ukraine, living in Rivne, Kyiv, Simferopol, and Kharkiv.

1974 - 1979

Studied at the Crimean Art College named after M. S. Samokish (Simferopol, Ukrainian SSR).

1977 - 1978
Training at the Academy of Arts (Saint Petersburg, USSR).
1979 - 1984

Studied at the Kharkiv Art and Industrial Institute (now the Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Arts) in the field of "Fine and Decorative Applied Arts" ("Graphics").

Military service.

Worked for some time as a master printer and was engaged in teaching.

Since 1986

Works on the artistic project UtopiA, which has been embodied in many works.

Since 1988

Member of the Union of Artists of the Ukrainian SSR (now the Union of Artists of Ukraine).

Taught at the Royal College of Art (London, United Kingdom)

Since 1990
Member of the Funen Graphic Workshops association (Odense, Denmark).
Since 1994
Member of the Royal Society of Painters and Graphic Artists (United Kingdom).
Since 2007
Corresponding Member of the Academy of Arts of Ukraine.

The works are held in the collections of the National Art Museum of Ukraine (Kyiv, Ukraine), the State Tretyakov Gallery (Moscow, Russian Federation), the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts (Moscow, Russian Federation), the Victoria and Albert Museum (London, United Kingdom), the National Gallery (Washington, USA), and others.
