Biography

Born in Kyiv in the family of artist Vladyslav Mamsikov (b. 1940)

1981 - 1988

Studied at the Republican Art Secondary School named after T. G. Shevchenko in Kyiv in the painting department (now — Taras Shevchenko State Art Secondary School)

1988 - 1994

Studied at the Faculty of Graphics at the Kyiv Art Institute (now the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture) in the workshop of Mykola Kompanets. Interrupted studies due to compulsory military service

1991 - 1992

Belonged to the circle of artists of the Paris Commune. Had a workshop on Irynska Street

1992 - 1994

Moved to the squat on Paris Commune Street

1991 - 1993

Started exhibiting paintings. The vast majority of works were exhibited within the framework of the gallery "UKV". Received an informal scholarship from the gallery owner

1992

In Finland, at the Astoria gallery, there is a group exhibition of young Ukrainian artists «New works by Kyiv artists», organized by the Kyiv gallery «UKV»

1994

Visited the residence of the Academy of Fine Arts [Akademie der Bildenden Künste München] in Munich, Germany

1994 - 1996

Relationship with curator Natalia Filonenko

Mid 90s

Worked as an art director in an advertising agency, as well as a freelance production designer

2009

Debut at the London auction Sotheby’s, his painting "Seascape with Parachute" was sold for £10,000. In the same year, another auction Phillips de Pury sold three paintings by Mamsikov — "Naval Battle" for £21.3k (estimate £10-15k); "Lenin" for £8.8k (estimate £7-9k) and "The Bell" for £11.3k (estimate £10-15k)[1]
