The installation “The Funeral of General Galliani” is a kind of sarcastic neo-surrealism: the author could not resist the desire to make a biting joke — it appeared at the “Calm” exhibition. And it captured the moment of transition from infantile “art brut” to a more or less “adult” (at least in the formal aspect) painting style. Here the “parallactic gap” has already formed: the pomposity of the form is disrupted by an amazing Freudian irony. On the wall is a monumental night canvas with an honor guard at the coffin of the deceased general and his portrait. In front of them, on a pedestal with a red cushion, is a fetish, the “object of desire.” It is also the main general’s award: a vagina encrusted with rhinestones…Comment type: Published comment
