The project “Fairy Tale,” prepared by curators Dmytro Dulfan, Serhiy Zarva, and Oleh Petrenko (Perets), explores the phenomenon of the fairy tale from the most unexpected angles. The ideals of modernism today exist, perhaps, only in the form of a great fairy tale. The utopian promises of those in power, that is, fairy tales for the people, are also a subject of research. The blade in the form of the figure of Hitler – what is not a “Sword in the Stone,” as Oleh Petrenko saw it? And what about the three little pigs? Petrenko combined their images with three drawn houses: straw, wooden, and stone. Remember how they hid from the wolf in these houses? Only these houses are a hut, a shed, and a mausoleum. A fairy tale is a lie, but there is a hint in it! Beauty, who understands. Much more elegant than the recent Odessa project “Farewell, Vova!”, implemented in the “Victory Gardens” gallery and accompanied by a manifesto demanding to remove the leader from his last, stone dwelling. That was really un-Odessa-like! A man lies there, bothering no one, and he bothers you?!Comment type: Published comment
