Tiberiy Silvashi on the results of the second plein air of young artists in Sedniv

After the second “Sednev” we were given the opportunity to hold an exhibition at the National Museum. It was an acknowledgment that Sednev had become a phenomenon. There was a huge exposition at the National Museum, for which we were allocated three halls on the second floor. This was important because the works were very large-format, simply enormous. I used to say that if you hang a pure canvas measuring 1.5 x 1.5 m on the wall, it will just be a pure white canvas. But if you take a pure five-meter canvas, then it is already a concept (laughs — author’s note). A canvas of this size already works monologically. This was a very important experiment related to the sizes of painting, to how it works. And of course, the energy of such a canvas is powerful. And the guys worked productively — for example, Oleg Holosiy or Pasha Kerestey could make 2-3 large canvases overnight. After the second plein air, there was a certain pause. Something was wrong, everyone started repeating themselves. There was a feeling that everything stopped and was not moving forward. We decided to skip the 90th year, and hold the third Sednev plein air already in 91.Comment type: Published comment
