This is how I would define the main motive of Oleksandr Klymenko’s creativity: the will to the boundless.
And at the same time the will to the sacred. In the modern world, where we have so much irony about the transcendental and the sacred, the will to the transcendental and the sacred requires special courage. But this is not just the courage to act, but also the courage to think. It is the courage to be a philosopher who realizes the limits of oneself and the world.
That is why the titles are so important in Oleksandr’s works.
Oleksandr Klymenko’s works are permeated with cosmic light. It is the inner light of the Microcosm, overcoming its limits. And at the same time it is the light coming towards us from beyond, the light of the Macrocosm.
The encounter of the microcosmic in Oleksandr’s paintings evokes in the viewer’s perception a sacred awe and philosophical silence.

Oleksandr Klymenko is a refined aesthete and intellectual, playing with epithets like Borges. Therefore, I see in his abstract works not only the sublimation of the unconscious, they are filled with philosophical signs and cognitive metaphors, the deciphering of which may take more than one generation. The metanarratives of the 20th century melt within them and turn into eternal archetypes radiating sunlight.
In Oleksandr Klymenko’s creativity, I see a unique combination of wisdom and sunniness. Wisdom, which is often associated with twilight and the moon, acquires a new life. It becomes the vision of the transcendental sun, born in a person at the limit of the possible. Therefore, A. Klymenko’s works are filled with light, power coming from the depths of personality. To everyone who contemplates them or even just is nearby, they give a sense of energy and strength.Comment type: Published comment
