Triptych gallery
Kyiv gallery “Triptych” on Andriyivskyy Descent is the first private gallery in Ukraine. Located in the cultural heart of the capital, it stood at the origins of the formation of modern Ukrainian art since its establishment in 1988.
The gallery earned high authority among artists and art lovers through continuous creative activity for 25 years. Over a quarter of a century, thousands of exhibitions of diverse works by the best Ukrainian masters of painting, sculpture, graphics, and professional decorative art have taken place within these walls, reflecting the vicissitudes of Ukrainian society’s fate at the current stage of its development. The guiding principle of the gallery’s work has always been meticulousness in selecting authors and works of art. Today, our collection features works by all artists included in the ranking “Contemporary Art of Ukraine during the Independence Period: 100 Names,” created in 2008.
During the reconstruction of Andriyivskyy Descent in 2011–2012, when the historic site resembled a film set of a World War II movie, the gallery was forced to temporarily close its doors to visitors. The period of quiet was marked not only by the addition of works by Ukrainian masters of Soviet painting to the collection but also gave impetus to the development of a new international vector of the gallery’s activity, resulting in the first retrospective of Ukrainian socialist realism in the People’s Republic of China, which gained recognition from both the general public and government officials.
The grand opening of the “Triptych” gallery in April 2013 with a joint exhibition of sculptor Oleksiy Volodymyrov and graphic artist Mykola Muravskyi marked the beginning of a new phase in our creative movement. It was followed by a high-profile joint project with the Ferrari car house, an exhibition of paintings by Petro Lebedynec, the gallery was chosen as the venue for the Parliamentary Deputies’ Club meetings, and the previous work rhythm resumed, with a new exhibition every two weeks.Status: not functioning
